25 Facts About Me.

Oh my, it's been a while hasn't it?! I moved house a couple of weeks ago so I was wifi-less for a little while, and for some reason the town I've moved to is like a black hole for signal which is annoying! Add to that a death in my husband's family and having a few of my family (including a 3 year old and an 8 month old) come to stay for a while and maybe you can see why I've not been quite as active as I'd like! About a thousand years ago now, the absolutely amazing Rebecca over at The Style Shake tagged me in a '25 facts about me' post, so I thought this would be a great way to dive back in. Let's go shall we?

What is your middle name?

My middle name is Jane - same as Rebecca! I have absolutely no idea why my parents picked this, but 'Bethany Jane' seems to flow pretty well!

What was your favourite subject at school?

I loved the Social Sciences. I ended up with Highers in all of them: Geography, History, RMPS and Modern Studies. My favourite was probably Geography though, and in 6th year I absolutely LOVED my Photography class (this may be because I loved my teachers for both these subjects).

What is your favourite drink?

All time favourite is clearly Irn-Bru. It is the nectar of the Gods and I'm pretty sure they'd revoke my Scottish Citizenship card if I said anything else. Alcohol wise I'm partial to a Pinot Grigio (hi I'm basic) or a dark rum and coke. I also LOVE cocktails - particularly French Martinis.

What is your favourite song at the moment?

This is so hard. I have pretty crap music taste and I never listen to new stuff so I get pretty stuck in what I know. At the moment I'm enjoying 'Mardy Bum' by Arctic Monkeys for how accurately it describes me in every way (hehe sorry husband) but my all-time favourites are 'This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody)' by Talking Heads and 'Let It Be' by The Beatles.

 What is your favourite food?

As anyone who knows me will tell you, there is only one answer to this: potatoes. In any form. I bloody love them. It's currently 7am and I'm now craving tatties, send help.

What is the last thing you bought?

Two books of second class stamps for some #beechat Snail Mail! This great project is run by the lovely Charlene and encourages bloggers and likeminded individuals to send each other handwritten letters and cards. I love receiving mail that isn't bills so I'm constantly bugging Charlene for more addresses. To get involved with the project you can find Charlene on Twitter here and the #beechat Twitter is here!

Favourite book of all time?

It's got to be 'The Book Thief' by Markus Zusak. It's such a powerful book, with a story I loved and a really unique and beautiful style of writing. It was the most unexpected reaction I've ever had to a book. I genuinely felt lost when I'd finished it, and I re-read it regularly. I love it, but it devastated me too.

Favourite colour?

Purple, then teal, then grey. Not that I'm overly specific or anything.

Do you have any pets?

I do, two cats and a leopard gecko. I'm going to do a more in-depth post about these guys soon.

 Favourite perfume?

I like Anna Sui Secret Wish, Calvin Klein Euphoria and Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh. I also LOVE my two Lush perfumes, Celebrate (the same scent as the Golden Wonder bath bomb) and Lord of Misrule. But I wore a Zara perfume on my wedding day that cost a tenner, and for ages I genuinely wore a Hannah Montana perfume cause I really loved it so I'm not fussy!

 Favourite holiday?

When he was like, 13 maybe?, my brother won this kids tv show Raven (he's going to kill me for this hahaha sorry Jaddo) and I ended up getting a two-week holiday to Barbados out of it. Best holiday ever. That was like ten years ago though so he really needs to pull his finger out and win me another free holiday.

Are you married?

Yup, got married May 2015.

Have you ever been out of the country?

Yes, many times, but not to many places: France, Italy, the Netherlands, USA, Barbados. I really need to expand my horizons.

Do you speak any other language?

No, I'm pretty good at reading and writing French but my pronunciation sucks. I'd love to learn Italian though as I'd quite like to live there for a while.

How many siblings do you have?

Three - an older brother, an older sister and the young warrior himself, Jaddo (he really is going to kill me).

What is your favourite shop?

I know I'm probably supposed to say Topshop or H&M, but I don't really do a lot of clothes shopping. I don't have any style whatsoever and everything I own is permanently covered in cat hair, so it's a bit of a waste. My favourite shop is probably Paperchase! I. LOVE. STATIONERY.

Favourite restaurant?

In the centre of the Old Town in Edinburgh there's this amazing Indian tapas place that I bloody love so much - Jesus all this talk of food is really affecting me - called Mother India. I genuinely just had a debate with myself about naming it because I honestly love it so much I don't want other people to go there and take all the tables. I need help.

When was the last time you cried?

On Monday, saying goodbye to my favourite wee nephew Ally who moved to Australia yesterday :(

Favourite blog?

Well I do love Rebecca's blog lots and lots so I'd encourage you to check that out! Her writing is so personal and her posts are always interesting - plus her photography is gorgeous. I also really like Gwennan's blog and Rachel's blog.

Favourite movie?

Probably Breakfast at Tiffany's. Yes, again, I'm basic, sorry 'bout it.

Favourite TV show?

At the moment I love Game of Thrones and Orange is the New Black, like everyone else ever, but my all-time favourite show is The Sopranos. I love it more than quite a lot of my family members.

PC or Mac?

If I could afford one it'd be Mac every bloody time.

What phone do you have?

The iPhone 5s because I am too poor to upgrade yet. (The iPhone 6 in the picture is my husband's!)

How tall are you?

About 5'2". I used to get teased a lot at school for being short by people who were maybe 5'4" at a maximum which is pretty bloody hard to take.

Can you cook?

Only with a recipe. I have no innate knowledge of what will taste good together, and the fear of serving up a disgusting tasting meal means I'm unlikely to ever get creative with it.

So there you have it! My 25 facts about me. I'd tag people to do it next but I've actually left it so long (Rebecca tagged me in this nearly three weeks ago, whoops) that I'm sure most people have done it by now. If you haven't then consider yourself tagged - and let me know when you've posted by commenting or tweeting me here with a link! :) Have a lovely weekend! x
