Things I'm Great At.

A couple of days ago I posted about things I'm terrible at, and lovely Rachel suggested I should do a post on the things I'm good at. It took me a fair while but I finally came up with a few I thought I could share with you!

Organisation.

Considering how rarely I actually get anything done, I'm surprisingly good at admin. I have notebooks upon notebooks, I make lists constantly and I always have a plan. It's just the little matter of willpower that fails me, but if I ever got off my arse I'd be unstoppable.

Making Literally Anything Sound Dirty.

I have a talent for turning the most innocent of sentences into the most innuendo (in YOUR end-o) packed statements you could imagine. In high school this was kind of funny, and people laughed along, but I'm starting to think that I maybe should've grown up a bit by now. Unfortunately that day will never come (hehe, come).

Running the Perfect Bath.

This really does count as a talent. So often people make the bath too tepid, so it's like getting into a cup of coffee a busy parent forgot about and left on the side. I get the water the perfect temperature - not so hot where you think your skin is going to melt off, but warm enough that you feel sleepy in minutes. Plus with my massive stash of Lush goodies, I'm sure I'll find you the perfect products to have the best bath ever.

Arguing.

When I asked Blair what things I'm good at, he diplomatically said 'debating'. He clearly meant arguing. I hold really strong opinions; I am very clear within myself on what I think is right and wrong, and I will not hesitate to share my opinion with you. I can't stop myself from getting sucked into arguments with idiots (like the guy who told me the unionisation of Scotland and England was because of oil. In 1707. Okay then) because honestly, I'm good at getting my point across. Usually with a lot of sarcasm.

Solving Anagrams and Finding Patterns in Numbers.

Have you ever tried one of those IQ tests where they ask you what the next number in a sequence is? Gimme one of those over any of those stupid shape questions any day of the week. I love solving puzzles, and I'm an anagram queen. I mean I don't like to brag but you should see me when I'm playing along with Countdown...

Finding Good Hotel Deals.

I'm not massively picky when it comes to where I stay, but I do manage to find really beautiful little places. I almost always do the booking if Blair and I go away, and we've stayed in some absolutely beautiful places for really reasonable prices. Plus if we're going abroad I'm really good at figuring out where the most convenient location to stay is - it's a talent.

Learning Song Lyrics.

It must be a family thing, because my brother and I only need to hear a song once to know pretty much all the words. I think for me it's because I really like to understand the story that the song is telling, whereas someone like my husband prefers to listen to the actual music. I wish this talent for recall would've made itself known in my French class, but still, I'm sure it'll come in handy...

Bullshitting Through Essays and Exams.

I did next to no work in uni, and still ended up with a 2:1. I did essays the night before (sometimes the day of) the due date, but would still get feedback saying I must've read the source material thoroughly. I honestly don't know how I did this, it must've been the way my brain works under pressure, but it was incredibly helpful. I still wish I'd put more(/any) effort in but I'm happy with how it all turned out.

Buying Nice Presents.

This isn't really a talent because it doesn't come naturally to me; I work really hard at this. I feel like I am usually pretty good at working out what people would really like for birthdays or Christmas, and I'm the type of person who is always adding extra mini presents in case I haven't got them enough. I love showing people how much I care about them with the perfect gift.

Surviving on No Sleep.

I basically don't sleep for more than about 6 hours at a time, and I regularly go with even less than this. I have screwed up sleep patterns, I suffer from sleep paralysis, and I usually can find 100 things to do on my phone instead of sleeping. I've got living without sleep down to an art now; I rarely feel tired (unless I've gone more than 24 hours without sleep), and I still function pretty well. I'm just worried I'm becoming like Margaret Thatcher, who only used to get 4 hours sleep a night. Being like her would be awful.

Those are a few of my weird and wonderful talents. Pretty much none of them are actually helpful, useful or beneficial in any way, but I'm good at them none the less.

What are some random things you are good at?

You can catch up with my Blogtober posts here!
