Things That Make Me Happy.

This week has been so negative and intense, and I'm really over it. Instead of writing another ranty style post, I think it's time to spread a little positivity and talk about the things that have been making me happy lately.

1. My husband.

I mean it'd be pretty awkward if he wasn't on this list, wouldn't it? I feel very grateful that I have someone in my life who is always there for me, who looks after me when I can't do it myself, and who makes me laugh on a daily basis. It's like living with your best friend - someone who doesn't judge you when pull on a food-stained t-shirt and call it 'pyjamas'. He has absolutely changed my life, and we've got so many great memories together. Plus he's stuck with me for life, haha unlucky.

2. My bestest buds.

These two absolute idiots are my the light of my life. I am in a group chat with them that makes me lol every single day. We take the absolute piss out of each other, we send the best memes that the internet can provide, and we usually spend most of our time talking about food. I am SO EXCITED that Fereuse is coming up from London tomorrow so we get to hang out and go to a pumpkin patch and do fun things. On the other hand Jamie's in the US for 3 weeks, sending us the most envy-inducing photos of Boston and Chicago, so he can get tae.

3. These lil fluffballs.

I've pretty much grown up having pet cats, and these two little fluffy friends are bloody wonderful. There's nothing quite like a cuddle with a pet when you're feeling blue, although Millie (the tabby cat, my cat) is much less of a lap-cat and more of a bitey maniac who likes to test her claws on you. Levi however, is much more likely to be found sitting on Blair, or following Blair, or meowing at Blair to sit down so she can sit on him. She's definitely 'his' cat. Apart from them hogging the duvet or always being on the wrong side of a door, these two are adorable.

4. Lush baths.

As you might know if you've seen some of my Blogtober posts, I am a massive fan of Lush. There's nothing better than a beautifully scented, brightly coloured bath to chill you out when the world is feeling extra stressful. I can't resist the seasonal ranges, and now that it's getting nice and chilly in the evenings, I have an excuse for taking hour-long baths and relaxing! The only issue I have is deciding what product to use next...

5. Getting letters.

I love writing to people, potentially because I'm actually addicted to Paperchase, and this at least gives me a reason to "just have a quick look" at what's in store. Getting post is a little bonus feature of a day, the fact that someone has taken the time to sit down and write me a letter is one of the nicest feelings in the world. I struggle with social events and meeting new people, so knowing that people out there care enough to put pen to paper and ask what's happening in my life is truly lovely.

6. The Sims 3.

I know that Sims 4 is clearly superior graphics and gameplay wise, but I'm not ready to move away from Sims 3 yet. I think I might actually have a serious problem with this game, as many a time have I realised that it's suddenly 7am and I've not been to bed yet because I'm too busy sorting out the lives of my fictional families. I know it's stupid but I love this game, and it is so mindless that I can just press play and tune out all the negative crap.

7. Modern Family.

Talking of things that help deafen down the negative stuff, Modern Family definitely does that for me. Blair and I have been watching quite a lot of this recently, and it's hilarious. I've never really found many sitcoms laugh-out-loud funny, but this one has me cackling away like an actual witch every episode. It's very clever and sharp, and I could watch hours of it which is saying a lot when you have an attention span as short as mine. See also the IRL UK podcast, that is just utterly hilarious.

8. My little house.

I've lived in rented places, on and off, for about 9 years and every single one of them has been a flat. There's nothing wrong with a flat, obviously, but there's something about the fact we now have our own little house that feels much more like a home than any of the other places did. I love it here, particularly now autumn and winter are approaching; it's so nice to get all cosy in here when the wind and rain are howling outside. Plus we now have a garden, and the cats are much happier, so we're all big fans.

9. Blasting music in the car.

We also recently bought a new car, which I absolutely love. One of my favourite things in the entire world is just going for a drive purely to listen to music nice and loud, and sing along at the top of my voice without annoying anyone (well, anyone except Blair. Again, unlucky haha). We have the most eclectic playlists going on, but we belt them out regardless. I think it instantly makes you feel a bit better!

10. Mini adventures.

One of the best things about being married to Blair is that he's always really keen to go new places and do new things. Whether we're just visiting a stately home, or camping in a random field near Aviemore, we enjoy getting out and exploring where we live. My favourite adventures this year have been to Mull and Raasay, and I'm already excited for where we'll end up next.

Those are just a few of the things that make me happy, and that I feel grateful for. Sorry if this post was a bit cheesy, but every so often it's nice to remind yourself of all the good things in your life (lol Sims 3) and how it's usually the little things that make the biggest difference.

What are some things that make you happy?

  1. Loving your positivity! Lush baths are my favourite way to wind down. I just bought Candy Mountain and the Christmas bubble wand - I'm so glad that they're back in stock!
