Lush Livingston Blogger's Event (+ Halloween Haul!).

Anyone who reads this blog will know I am a huge Lush fan - I have a pile of bath bombs, bubble bars and shower gels that could stock a small store but I'm never satisfied, I always need more!  The Halloween and Christmas ranges are by far my favourite so I was so excited when I was invited to the Lush Livingston store this week to check out this year's offerings at their blogger event.

I was so nervous going along to this as while I've been fortunate to be invited to a few places thanks to blogging, I've never actually met any other bloggers before. I had no need to be worried though while waiting to go into the store I met two lovely girls - Louise and Abby - who chatted away to me! We were welcomed into the store by the team with some delicious fake-bubbles and a selection of nibbles; it really was like walking into a party!

The team running the event - Isla, Lindsey, Hannah, Teia and Ainslye - were absolutely lovely. They made us all feel so welcome and they were so friendly and chatty from the get-go. The store looked and smelled amazing. There were so many products attracting my attention all at once, I didn't know where to look first. The selection of festive products is absolutely amazing this year and I was so excited to see what was on offer.

The staff took us through some of their favourites from the Halloween and Christmas ranges, showing us product demonstrations and letting us see and smell the best of the bunch. It'll be no surprise to anyone, but I want it all obviously. We got to see the new jelly bombs working, and to feel the really unusual jelly (obviously) texture they leave on the top of the water. There's plenty of choice in terms of scents, so do go have a look if you get the chance. The range is so good, with a huge selection of new products alongside some of my favourites from years past. The Halloween range, in particular, is always one of my favourites, and this year it is better than ever. All the products go so well together and there isn't one I don't like (more on that later...!).

One of my favourite things about this year's collection is the emphasis on 'naked products'. Obviously Lush have pioneered some truly innovative products like solid shampoo and conditioner bars, massage bars and even solid deodorant bars, which has helped to reduce the amount of plastic packaging that we consume, but this year they've gone one step further. Now, all the Christmas shower gels, body conditioners and body lotions come in a 'naked' version - instead of being a liquid in a plastic bottle, they are solid and packaging-free! I think it's amazing that Lush is still leading the rest of the cosmetics industry in coming up with ethical and practical solutions to issues such as packaging waste. This and the black pot returns scheme are both excellent ways of combatting use of plastics.

Alongside the demos, we were given the opportunity to actually make some products! We worked together to produce a big old batch of Bûche de Noël cleanser, a gorgeous limited edition Christmas product that is full of festive treats like cranberries, mandarin and a touch(!) of brandy. It also has ground almonds to give a gentle but effective scrub, and cocoa butter to hydrate and soften skin - perfect for the colder months.

We also got to live my Lush factory fantasy and press our own bath bombs. We mixed up a bowl of Sex Bomb and got stuck in. I'd like to think I know a little bit about Lush and their products, but I'd never got to see the process of making a bath bomb up close. It was really cool to get involved with, I had so much fun creating these products and I'm treating myself to a birthday bath with them both tonight!

I have to say my favourite thing about the event was how relaxed and chilled the atmosphere was. Towards the end of the evening, we were encouraged to look at the collections, have a little play with the products, and the staff were even giving personalised consultations for skincare and haircare products. I got to chat to some of the staff properly and was as usual completely blown away by their knowledge, their passion for Lush and their friendliness. From Christmas temp to store supervisors, all the staff involved in the event were just wonderful and I can't thank them enough for hosting such a lovely evening - and for the bag of goodies we were given on the way out!

I did pick up a few Christmas products while I was in-store, but I fully intend to do a much bigger shop and show you those later! For now, I thought I'd share what I got from the Halloween range - you might still have a chance to pick these up online or in your local shop if you're quick!

The New Kids on the Block

Ahh, look at them! Aren't they beautiful? I admit I was very overexcited at just the sight of these, but I was even happier when I got a sniff of them. We all know I'm a fan of fruity, citrusy scents and these three are excellent additions to the Halloween collection. Ectoplasm (£4.95) is the Halloween jelly bomb - and it's gorgeous. This cute little lilac bomb has a ghost on top and dissolves out into a layer of slime-green jelly, perfect for the spookiest time of year. Packed with tangerine and grapefruit oils, this is such an uplifting scent, while the seaweed in the jelly helps to soften your skin. The Bewitched bubble bar (£4.25) is perhaps my favourite product from this year's Halloween range. This gorgeous feline shares its scent with the now-discontinued Blackberry bath bomb - I was still in mourning from losing it so this certainly fills a hole in my heart. If you can bear to crumble it up, this turns the water beneath your bubbles a gorgeous glittery black colour. It really is bewitching! Lastly from the newbies, we have the Pink Pumpkin bubble bar (£4.25). Obviously, this is very similar to the Sparkly Pumpkin bubble bar but, well, pink. This is basically Sparkly's floral twin. Jasmine, geranium and bergamot oils combine to give this a fresh, feminine and floral fragrance that at first really reminded me of Rose Jam. It's really beautiful, sweet but not overpowering, and the pink sparkles in the water may not be the scariest of Halloween treats, but they're enjoyable all the same!

The Old Favourites

I've talked about all these products before so I won't ramble on too much, but I'm so happy to see every single one of these back. Firstly, Monsters' Ball (£4.50) is back and I'm over the moon about it. This gorgeous, sharp, lime and neroli scent is one of my all-time favourite Lush scents, and this is just a stunning psychedelic display of pinks and purples in the water. Pumpkin bath bomb (£4.25) is a gorgeous fruity, spicy scent that reminds me of home-baking and delicious treats. It's a very strong scent that lasts for ages, perfect for a cosy night in. This is a really fast fizzer too, so the water changes colour in the blink of an eye. I love it. Sparkly Pumpkin (£4.25) has a deliciously fruity, fresh scent with lime, grapefruit and juniperberry oils combining to form the most unusual aroma. This leaves you with gorgeous sparkly orange water and mounds of fluffy bubbles. Lastly, my all. time. favourite is the Lord of Misrule bath bomb (£3.95) - a gorgeous, spicy, herbal blend of patchouli, vanilla and black pepper that combines with a wine-red colour to give the most luxurious bath ever. This scent screams Halloween to me, so I also picked up the shower cream (£10.95 for 250g).

Winter is the perfect time to enjoy Lush, and thanks to Lush Livingston I have already earmarked a few Christmas products that will be coming home with me soon! I cannot thank the staff enough for having me along to the blogger's event, it was the stuff my dreams are made of!

What items would you be keen to pick up from the Halloween range? Or is Christmas more your thing?
