10 Things To Put On Your Pre-Holiday Checklist.*

We're currently in the middle of a heatwave which is making life in the UK feel unnaturally summery (seriously, it's 29 degrees here in Scotland, madness!). However, if the weather here isn't enough for you and you're jetting off on a summer holiday soon, there are a few things you'll need to think about before you go. Don't worry, they aren't too taxing - you'll be on a sun lounger with a cocktail in your hand in no time...

Three Festivals Worth Catching A Flight For.*

Festival season is in full swing, but I have a confession: I've never been to one. I don't know why, as sitting in a field drinking and listening to music is pretty much my idea of a good time, but perhaps it's the price tags that put me off - I can do that for free! However, there are some festivals that you'd be hard-pressed to replicate in your back garden, and I've picked three that are definitely worth travelling for!

The Dreamiest Subscription Box Ever - Cosy Candles Soy Wax Melts.*

I know it's a bit of a blogging cliché to say you were "super excited!" to work with certain brands, but in this case, I am a walking cliché. Living in a rented house means I'm quite limited in terms of what I can do with the decor, but home accessories are my absolute jam. Give me a throw, some cushions, or more specifically, a billion scented items, and I am one happy camper. So, I may be a stereotype, but I was absolutely overjoyed to receive this package from Cosy Candles!

5 Tips That Stop Me From Spending All My Money.*

I'm useless with money. I spend it as soon as I have it and I usually have nothing to show for it. It's the bane of my existence; I always want to mosey off for a week away in a cottage or some relaxing time in the sun, but I never have the funds. Saving money can seem like a real challenge, but I've come up with a few tips that are definitely helping me - and could help you too!

Awareness Is Not Enough.

TW: suicide

I've been toying with writing a post like this for a long time, but it was only when the lead singer of Frightened Rabbit, Scott Hutchison, was sadly found dead that I felt... I dunno, angry? sad? frustrated? enough to do so. Sadly, since that day around a month ago, there have been further high profile deaths, with both Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain tragically passing away this week. It is becoming clearer every day that awareness of mental health issues is not enough.

Three European Destinations I'm Adding To My Travel Bucket List.*

Travelling is one of my favourite things to do, and I am incredibly lucky to have visited some exceptional places and seen some truly incredible things. Even still, there's always room for more! There are so many places I'd like to visit, but I've managed to whittle my travel bucket list down to three sights I need to see...!

Kissing Boys, Just For The Thrill by Jennifer Juan - Poetry Review.

"I spent so much time,
kissing boys,
just for the thrill,
that I don't remember,
how to kiss for something more."

Believe In Happy - with Funky Pigeon!*

Dealing with poor mental health or mental illness can feel incredibly lonely. While you might rationally know that people care, it can feel as if you are totally alone, with no one to talk to or reach out to. As today is the first day of Mental Health Awareness Week, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share how are helping to combat this feeling of isolation with their #BelieveInHappy range.

Five Home Design Tips for Beginners - with Great Idea Hub.*

I first moved away from my parents when I was 17, but it's only now, over a decade later, that I fully appreciate that my little house I live in with my husband is actually my home. Years of student accommodation and fully-furnished flats have meant that we have had little ability to put our own stamp on things. Now that we live in what is essentially a blank canvas, we have much more freedom, but no idea where to begin. So I put together a little list of tips that might help us - and hopefully you! - when it comes to letting your inner interior designer run riot.

What I Read in April + Blogger's Book Nook!

what i read in april 2018 books ibooks philippa gregory jill mansel

In April I wrote a ridiculously long post about the books I'd read over the previous four months, but don't panic - this is going to be much shorter. April was the start of me really trying to get back into blogging, so I didn't spend as much time reading as I'd have liked. I'm now 7 books behind my Goodreads schedule though so I do need to pick it up...!

Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream Review.*

klairs rich moist soothing cream korean beauty skincare

I've ranted many times about my dry skin, and how hard it is to keep this old face of mine hydrated. I say that winter is bad, as the cold temperatures and terrible weather have my face irritated, but it's not like summer is much better as even a hint of sunshine dries me out to leather-bag status. I am constantly on a quest to find products that will keep my skin feeling soft and looking healthy.

What I've Read Recently.

The Couple Next Door - Shari Lapena

WARNING: This will no doubt be a ridiculously long blog post, sorry in advance!

I really enjoy writing a round-up of what I've read each month, but for some reason the last one I did was for November. I want to get back into it at the end of this month but I also didn't want to not mention the books I've read since then. Turns out I managed to get through a healthy 54 books throughout 2017, surpassing my target of 52. I have set myself the goal of 55 books this year in order to continue with that - but I'm quite far behind...!

Exploring Bristol with National Express.*

bristol harbourside waterfront river avon

I've visited quite a lot of places in the UK, but one place that I've always had my eye on but never managed to get to is Bristol. I don't know how this is possible - at some point or another all three of my cousins have lived there, so I have no real excuse for not visiting. Last week that finally changed, and I made my way south to my new favourite city.

Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy.

snowdrops blogging comparison

I feel like people are going to take this the wrong way, so it's a risky post to publish - but after reading Rachel's post on differences in blogosphere opinions I'm doing it anyway. Just give me the benefit of the doubt, and read the whole thing before you subtweet...!

Blog Tour || Something Changed by Matthew Williams - Book Review

While I do tend to read quite a lot, one area that I seem to neglect is non-fiction. So when the opportunity came to be involved in the blog tour for the non-fiction, self-help/autobiography hybrid Something Changed, I was very excited to take part.

Blog Tour || Prosecco and Promises by A.L. Michael - Book Review

I know they tell you that you should never judge a book by it's cover, but in the case of Prosecco and Promises by A.L. Michael I have to admit, I did. I thought I knew exactly what this book would be like. Turns out, I was totally wrong.

Blog Tour || Dark Game by Rachel Lynch - Book Review

Some people take an easygoing, funny, light read with them when they go on holiday. Not me - I've been reading the gritty, gripping Dark Game by Rachel Lynch, and it's had me hooked!

Does My Blog Need To Be Useful?

berwick upon tweed bridge

I adore blogs. I love reading them, getting to know the person behind them, learning what makes them tick. They are all beautifully unique and crafted from a place of pure passion. It might seem like running a blog is a case of just having access to a laptop and the internet, but the effort that goes into these babies shouldn't be underestimated. It's a hobby that involves a lot of long hours and a lot of hard work.

Please Stop Commenting On My Body.

As you probably know, I'm currently on holiday in Antigua. That's not entirely relevant, I just wanted to brag again (kidding). In the run up to this trip, I've panicked and had anxiety over a lot of things but there was one aspect I didn't realise would cause me quite so much hassle: my body.

A Little Life Update.

I don't want to induce envy or make anyone hate me, but while I write this I am currently sitting by a private pool, in the beautiful 27 degree heat of February in Antigua. I may or may not be 'living my best life'. I may or may not also end up sunburnt in a matter of minutes, but that's neither here nor there.

Wonderland Makeup Review.*

wonderland makeup review

I'm not a beauty blogger by any stretch of the imagination, but makeup is one of my favourite things to test and review on my blog. So I was really excited to receive a few items from Wonderland Makeup and find out more about this brand as they were totally new to me.

The Year Ahead.

I am very grateful to Past Me for starting this little blog so close to the beginning of the year. It means that today, on my second blogging anniversary, I can look forward to another year of blogging with almost an entire calendar year ahead too. There's something oddly satisfying about that.

Photowall Canvas Print Review.*

photowall canvas art wall review

Something I always notice when I go to other people's houses is that they invariably have photographs of themselves or their loved ones displayed. Both mine and my husband's parents particularly have collages of photos or framed shots all over the shop. It's a bit strange, then, that this hasn't been something we've continued in our own home.
